Jess Hutchison
Operations Manager
Jess Hutchison is a dedicated professional with experience in environmental stewardship, public policy, and organizational management. She specializes in bridging the gap between high-level strategy and community-level impact. Jess holds a Bachelor of Science in Political Science from Wayne State University, with an Associate’s Degree and Studio Certificate in Fine Art Illustration from Monroe County College. She’s managed statewide outreach programs, collaborated with greening committees, and worked alongside neighborhood and business leaders to grow native pollinator habitats and urban tree canopies.
Her professional experience is rooted in service to the community and environment, but Jess also brings technical expertise to her role. At the Community Design Lab, she streamlines essential functions by overseeing organizational workflows and ensuring that the Urban Studio’s mission is translated into measurable outcomes. Jess also serves as the Board Secretary for Rescue MI Nature Now, a nonprofit dedicated to youth development, land stewardship, and sustainable food systems throughout Michigan.
